Dear clients and friends of Tandem

By leaving the EU, Great Britain has now ended the free movement of goods as of 1 January 2021. What does this mean for you?

Any transport of artworks to or from the UK must now be cleared by customs on both the German and British sides.

The details of the procedure have not yet been determined, but will presumably be similar to the clearance procedures for traffic with Switzerland.

Therefore, please expect delays in shipments to and from the UK until reliable implementing regulations for customs clearance are published. Longer transit times are to be expected even thereafter.

In future, you will probably have to do very without spontaneous London transports. Unfortunately, you will also have to reckon with higher costs due to customs clearance.

Please check again if you currently have consignment goods from or in the UK. You should clear them quickly or arrange for transport to the country of origin. In any case, please seek tax advice before doing so.
